Andy's Job of the Month (March)

At Showcase Creative, we recently undertook a unique and exciting packaging project for our client, uklash, a leading UK cosmetic company specialising in lash, brow, and hair growth products. In this case study, we'll take you through the creative journey and challenges we faced while crafting a special influencer mailer for uklash to celebrate National Lash Day on February 19th.

Design Concept:

Uklash approached us with a vision – they wanted the influencer mailer to resemble a tool box, complete with a latch. After careful consideration, we created a visual to present to the client, offering a glimpse of what the final box would look like before moving on to the next stage.

Sourcing a latch suitable for a cardboard box proved challenging, as they would typically be associated with wooden or metal boxes. After exploring various options, we found the perfect latch from Poland. Securing the latch to the box took multiple rounds of testing before coming up with an attachment that we were happy with. We then produced a plain mock-up of the box for approval before going into production.

Glossy Finish and Colour Matching:

To achieve the glossy effect uklash desired, we gloss laminated the inside of the box. The client provided us with the Pantone colour of their brand's distinctive pale pink, which we meticulously matched using our digital fine art printer. The result was a visually stunning and brand-aligned packaging solution.

Client Collaboration:

Throughout the project, we maintained close communication with uklash, sharing photos and videos of the packaging's evolution. This approach expedited the approval process and ensured the client was happy at each stage of the project.

Distribution and a Bonus Surprise:

Handling all aspects of distribution in-house, we sent out 60 influencer kits, tracked each package, and provided proof of deliveries. This included kits for uklash head office so they had copies of the final product, and they were delighted with the result. We had some surplus products left over from the mailer which they generously allowed us to keep. The anticipation among our staff to get their hands on these items is so high that we might just have to draw names from a hat to to distribute them!

The project concluded with excellent feedback from uklash: "Thank you so much for this, I received yesterday and it looks amazing, the team are super happy with them!" We look forward to more innovative challenges in the future and continuing to showcase our dedication to quality and excellence in every project we undertake.
